How often should you clean the extractor fan filter?
Every three months. Grease, felt, and a genuine fire risk.
What it actually is, and what shifts it
The mesh in the extractor is holding cooking fat, and fat comes off in hot water and washing-up liquid given twenty minutes to soak. Worth knowing which sort you have: a metal mesh washes, a paper or charcoal pad does not clean at all and is meant to be thrown away and replaced.
Put it on a list that reminds you
“Wash the extractor filter”, every three months. Tick it when it is done and the next date is counted from that day, not from when it was due.
