How often should you clean the washing machine seal?
Every three months. The black stuff in the rubber lip. Yours has it.
What it actually is, and what shifts it
The black in the rubber lip is mould, and it is there because water sits in the fold in the dark after every wash. Wipe the fold out, and leave the door and the detergent drawer open between washes — the fix is the drying, not the scrubbing.
Put it on a list that reminds you
“Clean the washing machine seal”, every three months. Tick it when it is done and the next date is counted from that day, not from when it was due.
