How often should you descale the kettle?
Every 60 days. Those are not tea leaves.
What it actually is, and what shifts it
The scale in the bottom of the kettle is calcium carbonate, and it dissolves in acid rather than in scrubbing. Citric acid or plain white vinegar, cover the element, boil it, leave it half an hour. Then boil once more with clean water and tip that lot down the sink before you make tea with it.
Put it on a list that reminds you
“Descale the kettle”, every 60 days. Tick it when it is done and the next date is counted from that day, not from when it was due.
